I was delighted to sit down with Channel Nine for a feature on technology being used to track employees’ whereabouts and activities.
This idea is nothing new and has been around since the bundy clock, but advancements in technology and new workplace regulations are making it more prominent and a growing concern for people across the country.
There’s a wider issue to be addressed here: trust. We’ve seen a breakdown in it between the coal face and executive leadership, which affects everything from productivity to workplace culture. Technology can’t change or fix that, and indeed can make the problem worse if people feel it’s being used in an inappropriate way.
If your business has a ‘need’ for coffee badging tech, it’s likely it has a greater need to fix wider systemic issues within the workplace.
